The Monkey King: Demon City” was inspired by the Journey to the West. In the story, the Tang Monk was always alone when he traveled to the West to retrieve Buddhist scriptures. As a lone man, he braved the dangers and hardships of the grueling journey.
There was great righteousness in his heart; he worked hard to bring good to the world and to preserve all that was kind. Aside from the arduous journey, the real obstacle had always been testing his true heart. With light comes the shadow. When the boundaries between good and evil become blurred and when purity and beauty are trampled underfoot, even the most capable man on earth would be powerless and sink into despair. But there will always be brave souls who will kindle a light even in the darkest corners.
Even when trapped in a hopeless place, they have never given up fighting. They are people who are willing to sacrifice their lives. With a weapon in hand and empathy in heart, that is when fighting can bring about hope.
